The Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties, the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association and Alberta Municipal Affairs have partnered to create a tool for Alberta municipalities – Public Participation Policies and Public Notification: A Guide for Municipalities. This tool was released in February 2018 and is intended to assist municipalities to engage with their citizens and comply to the revised Municipal Government Act.
Alberta municipalities must establish a Public Participation Policy by July 23, 2018 that complies to Section 216.1 of the Municipal Government Act. This guide includes policy and bylaw templates for public participation and notification.
