The Alberta River Water Quality Index evaluates the province’s rivers according to four variable groups:
- Bacteria
- Metals
- Nutrients
- Pesticides
The variables are compared to water quality guidelines (provided by the provincial and federal governments). The data is provided in graph and chart formats for all major river systems in the province (ie. a watershed approach). All watersheds can be quickly reviewed and compared for their water quality.
