Benchmarks have been used for water management in Alberta since 1968. The benchmarks provide the elevation at specific locations throughout the province. Benchmarks that are used include natural and artificial objects that are permanent.
The benchmarks can be viewed on an interactive map in your web browser. All the benchmarks have an associated elevation, however some of the benchmarks may physically be missing (but the data is included).
