Review of Alberta’s Integrated Land Management Policies, Practices and Legislation – July 2021
The Alberta Regional Caribou Knowledge Partnership (ARCKP) formed in 2018 to find on-the-ground solutions that balance forestry activities with woodland caribou conservation. The partnership is funded by the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) through the support of 12 forestry companies in Alberta. It became an association of fRI Research in 2020.
In July 2021, the ARCKP published a report that evaluated resource and land policy integration in Alberta. The report was prepared by the Foothills Landscape Management Forum and Dialogue Partners to explore how an Integrated Land Management (ILM) approach can help manage footprint and potentially coordinate restoration within caribou habitat. The report identifies gaps and opportunities within Alberta’s current ILM practices.
