The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) supports Alberta’s municipalities in reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. It was started in 2009 as a partnership between the provincial government, the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) and Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA). Funding for its operations and grants comes from the Government of Alberta and Energy Efficiency Alberta.
MCCAC has programs for financial rebates, funding, network formation assistance and support for feasibility studies for municipalities and other institutions, including schools and non-profit organizations.
