Opportunity for input: Draft Bistcho Lake Sub-regional Plan & draft Cold Lake Sub-regional Plan
The Government of Alberta is seeking input on two draft sub-regional plans. Surveys are open until May 29, 2021 for the Bistcho Lake Sub-Regional Plan and the Cold Lake Sub-Regional Plan.
“Alberta has been leading the way in caribou conservation efforts over the past few years. These plans represent more progress on this important file,” said Jason Nixon, Minister of Environment and Parks, on March 29.
“With Ottawa’s recent acknowledgement of Alberta’s strong caribou recovery actions, we are confident that our sub-regional planning process will find the right balance between protecting caribou herds while maintaining local industry and jobs.”
The two sub-regional plans are among 11 plans that are expected to be developed over the course of the next five years.
Information sessions will also be held for the public to learn more about the sub-regional plans.
