Alberta Innovates and the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre
The Municipal Community Generation Challenge is a grant program open to Alberta municipalities for community scale electricity generation projects. A fund of $10 million is available for municipalities to form networks and partnerships to create community generation facilities.
Municipalities can contribute to the development of renewable electricity projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, diversity the local economy and benefit the community.
Any municipality is eligible to apply, and they may partner with neighbouring municipalities to create applications for joint projects.
The program is from Alberta Innovates and the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre.

First step – Presentation on April 17
Municipalities interested in the program can submit a letter of interest by May 10. A webinar on April 17 will assist municipalities in preparing letters of interest. The presentation is available for participants to attend in person on via teleconference.
