The Municipal Community Generation Challenge is a grant program open to Alberta municipalities for community scale electricity generation projects. A fund of $10 million is available for municipalities to form networks and partnerships to create community generation facilities.

Municipalities can contribute to the development of renewable electricity projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, diversity the local economy and benefit the community.

Any municipality is eligible to apply, and they may partner with neighbouring municipalities to create applications for joint projects.

The program is from Alberta Innovates and the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre.
