Update from Crystal Damer, executive director of the Land Use Secretariat, on the Land-use Framework from May 5, 2016
At the Land Use 2016 conference hosted by the Alberta Land Institute, Crystal Damer – executive director of the Land Use Secretariat – presented on the goals and current status of the Land-use Framework. The presentation covered the seven strategies outlined in the Land-use Framework and the lessons learned so far. She highlighted three main lessons that the Land Use Secretariat has learned as they began the process to develop and implement regional plans.
1. Regional planning development, consultation and implementation is a thorough process that takes time and a great deal of collaboration between all Albertans.
2. We need to enhance the way we consult and engage with Indigenous communities.
3. The approved regional plans are our templates moving forward and we will continue to improve all aspects of development and implementation.
